I am Sky Luo, a freshman at Davidson College. This is my HUM-103 website where I share my thoughts about several subjects of humanities (literature, philosophy, history, theatre, religion, social activism, pleasure etc.). Hopefully here you will witness the evolution of my understanding of several obscure ideas and, most importantly, find something valuable and relatable to take away with you. I am thankful for my humanities professors, fellows, my classmates, and Digital Learning team for challenging me to think and offering me intellectual and technical assistance. I also appreciate Mr. Mendel and his lecture on his amazing photography, and Dr. Deresiewicz and his “intellectually stimulating” conversations about elitist education in the US. All those people made this website possible.
In the “papers” section, there are my major writing assignments throughout the year, including Empathy Through Virtual Reality? (research paper), Race and Racial Identity in Colonial Latin America (scholarly conversation), and On Liberty: On Objection (analytical paper). My work for “something new from each semester” are incorporated in the “texts” and “non-texts” sections, while the collaborative project is in the section of “collaborative project“. I have incorporated my reflective responses to the unit 6 & unit 7 prompts and the definitions of the body/bodies and the humanities/Humanities in the “6&7” and “definitions” sections. My six commentaries can be found in the “commentaries” section, with the expanded two marked with ” * “. At last, my slack posts and reading annotations are in the section of “annotations“.
